Intergenerational Trauma Podcast Series

I did a podcast series on trauma after unpacking my own trauma in my memoir Out From the Shadows and interviewing over 100 people with intergenerational trauma. I hope this series can help people recognize what I finally did and find some healing.

Intergenerational trauma is the process by which the emotional, psychological, and even biological effects of a major traumatic event are passed from those who directly experienced it to subsequent generations, without the descendants necessarily witnessing the original trauma themselves.

This phenomenon was first recognized in children of Holocaust survivors in the 1960s and has since been observed in descendants of other large-scale traumas, such as victims of slavery, colonization, war, and genocide, as well as individual family traumas like abuse or neglect.

An introduction to intergenerational trauma and how to break the family cycle.

Episode 1 of my 6-part series on trauma. This series will be particularly of interest to men who suffer from anxiety, stress, burnout, and failed relationships. If you grew up in a “we don’t talk about that” family and still feel anxious, on edge, or never “enough,” this episode connects the dots nobody explained to you.

Episode 2 in my 6-part series on trauma. In this episode, I talk about how father wounds, anxiety, and intergenerational trauma silently shape men’s ability to connect, stay present, and build healthy relationships. This episode is entitled Why He Shuts Down Instead of Showing Up.

Episode 3 of my 6-part series on trauma. In this episode, I talk about why you’re exhausted but can’t slow down. This episode will help you understand about burnout, stress, and how generational trauma can quietly shape work habits, anxiety, and health. You’ll learn why therapy and self-reflection help you heal faster and how to prioritize yourself without falling apart.
